at the Chair of VWL VI: Empirical Economics (Prof. Mario Larch). The position is financed via the DFG project “International Environmental Cooperation: Determinants, Interlinkages, and Impacts”, which is undertaken in cooperation with Prof. Joschka Wanner (Junior Professorship of Quantitative International and Environmental Economics at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg). The contract will start at the candidate’s earliest availability and will be fixed term for a period of 2 years. Further employment opportunities will be sought for.

The Chair of Empirical Economics within the department of Law, Business Administration and Economics offers an interesting opportunity for research in quantitative international trade and the environment. The following qualifications are required:

  • Excellent master’s degree in economics or other relevant discipline
  • Strong interest in international and environmental economics
  • Strong background in econometrics and quantitative methods
  • Strong software skills in at least one of the following programs: Stata, R, Matlab, Gams, Python
  • Willingness to contribute as a team member to the activities of the professorship and department
  • Excellent communication skills in English

The duration of the appointment is limited under the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contracts (in German: Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz) to facilitate scientific qualification and is subject to legal and personal requirements. Doctoral researchers will have the opportunity to obtain a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) and participate in the Bavarian Graduate Program in Economics (BGPE).
